August 8, 2025: With just days to go until its theatrical release on August 14, Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated film, Coolie, has received stellar early reviews from a private screening held on August 8. According to initial reactions from fans, Rajinikanth’s performance is being hailed as his best since the 2016 blockbuster Kabali.
Social media is abuzz with positive feedback, with one X user calling Rajinikanth’s act “the best performance loading after Kabali.” The same user also lauded Nagarjuna’s performance, labeling him the “backbone” of the film, and stated that Aamir Khan’s extended cameo “turned the entire theatre into a stadium,” amplifying the excitement. The film has also been praised as “terrific,” with critics highlighting the strong performances of the entire cast, including Shruti Haasan and others.
The movie has gotten a lot of applause because advance bookings for Coolie have opened and gotten a lot of attention, especially from global markets. The movie has already made more than $2 million in pre-sales, with a shocking $1.3 million coming from North America alone. This might mean a record-breaking opening.
The film, which has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board, is set for a box office clash with War 2. While early screenings are scheduled for as early as 6 am in Kerala and Karnataka, fans in Tamil Nadu will have to wait until 9 am due to a government ban on early morning shows.
