Controversy Surrounds Allu Arjun Following Hyderabad Residence Attack And Tragic Pushpa 2 Premiere Incident

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]: The aftermath of a tragic incident during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule has sparked widespread controversy, culminating in an attack on actor Allu Arjun’s Hyderabad residence on December 22.

Protest at Jubilee Hills

According to the DCP West Zone, several individuals carrying placards stormed Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills. The protestors shouted slogans, and one individual climbed the compound wall, throwing stones and damaging flower pots along the ramp. Security staff intervened, leading to a physical altercation. Six members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC) were detained but later released on bail.

The December 4 Tragedy

The protest is rooted in a stampede during the December 4 premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre. A massive crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun, leading to chaos when he waved to fans from his car’s sunroof. The stampede resulted in the death of a woman named Revathi and injuries to her child, Sri Tej.

Allu Arjun was arrested for his involvement and released on bail after furnishing a ₹50,000 bond.

Support for the Victim’s Family

Producers Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar of Pushpa 2 extended financial assistance to Revathi’s family, presenting a ₹50 lakh cheque in the presence of Telangana Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. The cheque was received by Revathi’s husband at KIMS Hospital, Hyderabad, where Sri Tej is undergoing treatment.

Producer Naveen Yerneni expressed sorrow over the incident, stating, “This is a significant loss for the family. We are committed to supporting them in any way possible.”

Political Fallout

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy blamed Allu Arjun for the tragedy, revealing that police had denied permission for the event due to safety concerns. Reddy accused the actor of disregarding these warnings, conducting a roadshow, and exacerbating the chaotic situation.

“The ACP requested Allu Arjun to leave to control the crowd, but he refused. Even while leaving, he climbed onto his car roof and waved to fans, worsening the crowd’s frenzy,” Reddy said in the Assembly.

Allu Arjun’s Response

The actor extended condolences to Revathi’s family and expressed relief over the injured child’s recovery. He dismissed allegations of misconduct, calling them “misinformation and an attempt at character assassination.”

“This incident has been deeply distressing for me,” Arjun said. “I have worked in the film industry for 20 years and have always respected my fans. I apologize for the tragedy but want to clarify that I had no direct involvement in the events that unfolded.”

Pushpa 2 and the Road Ahead

Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, remains in the spotlight amidst the controversy. While fans continue to support the actor, the tragic events surrounding the film’s premiere and the subsequent political fallout have cast a shadow over its success.
