Construction Site Fire In Williamsburg Sends Black Smoke Billowing Across NYC

NEW YORK – A fire broke out at a building site in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg district on Monday night. The fire sent up a huge cloud of black smoke that could be seen and smelled in many sections of New York City, including parts of Manhattan. The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) said that its units were on the scene of a two-alarm fire near the intersection of Bushwick Avenue and Boerum Street.

Videos of the event that were widely posted on social media showed thick, dark smoke rising high into the sky from the site. This smoke created a cloud that floated across the borough and could be seen from across the East River. The fire, which started just before 7 p.m., spread to a three-story structure next door.

Officials say that two persons were hurt slightly and were treated at the site. The inquiry into the cause of the fire is still going on.

Williamsburg, a vibrant and rapidly expanding neighborhood in Brooklyn, is widely known for its ongoing construction activities. The fire made things difficult in the vicinity, with emergency vehicles and road restrictions all around the scene while firemen attempted to put it out. The FDNY told people to stay away from the area so that firefighters could keep working without any problems.
