Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March 8: Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Misra announced on Saturday that the construction of the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya will be completed by around April 15, despite potential delays caused by the Holi festival.
Misra explained that the Holi celebrations would affect the construction timeline, as many workers would return to their hometowns for the festival. “Holi will affect the progress of the work as many workers will go home for the festival. Today we hope that the statue of Goswami Tulsidas will come to our premises and it is expected to be installed by tomorrow. About 20,000 cubic feet of stone is yet to be laid in the temple. The construction of the temple will be completed by around April 15,” he said.
The Committee Chairman also shared that all statues inside and outside the temple rampart will be in place by April 30, with the majority of installations expected to be completed between March 25 and April 15.
Earlier in January, Misra had stated that the temple’s construction would be concluded by March. “We carried out a review yesterday. The temple (complex) construction will be concluded on the scheduled date in March. Ram Darbaar will be set up on the first floor within this duration. The works for establishing murtis of idols (iconography) will also be completed during this period,” Misra had said.
Misra also discussed the ongoing challenges, including the beautification of 20 acres of land surrounding the temple to complement its natural surroundings. Additionally, he mentioned difficulties encountered while working on Parkota, the parikrama marg, which is a key feature of the temple complex.
In January 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had performed rituals during the Pran Pratishta ceremony of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. The temple, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, has a length of 380 feet (east-west), a width of 250 feet, and a height of 161 feet. It is supported by 392 pillars and 44 doors, with intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, Gods, and Goddesses adorning the pillars and walls. The main sanctum sanctorum of the temple houses the idol of Shri Ramlalla, representing the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram.
