Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit Attacks AAP Over Alleged Money Laundering Claims

As the Delhi Assembly elections near, Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit has sharpened his criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), particularly in light of an incident involving a suspicious vehicle found near Punjab Bhawan. Dikshit claims that the AAP’s ties to money laundering have now been “proven right” following the discovery of liquor bottles and cash worth lakhs in a car carrying AAP pamphlets.

Dikshit’s Allegations Against AAP

  • Dikshit pointed to the vehicle’s “Punjab registration” and the presence of liquor and cash as evidence of AAP’s alleged illegal practices.
  • He stated that he had previously raised concerns about vehicles from Punjab bringing money into Delhi and had written to Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena about it.
  • With the recent incident coming to light, he claimed that his warnings about AAP’s involvement in financial irregularities have now been validated.

Call for a Raid at Punjab Bhawan

  • Dikshit further alleged that AAP has been using Punjab Bhawan as its party office, and demanded that Delhi Police raid the premises to uncover any hidden activities.
  • “The police should raid Punjab Bhawan and uncover what they are hiding,” Dikshit remarked, further intensifying the attack on AAP.

Punjab Government’s Rebuttal

  • In response to the controversy, the Punjab government swiftly issued a clarification, asserting that the vehicle involved had a forged number plate and was not associated with the state government.
  • The vehicle in question, which was claimed to be a Hyundai Creta, did not match the records for a Ford EcoSport registered in the name of Maj. Anubhav Shivpuri, a Maharashtra resident.
  • The Punjab Transport Department also pointed out that the number plate was not an official High Security Registration Plate (HSRP), confirming that it was easy to forge.

Political Implications

  • The controversy surrounding the vehicle, with its association to AAP pamphlets and cash, is intensifying political rivalry as the BJP, Congress, and AAP continue to trade allegations in the Delhi election battle.
  • Dikshit’s claims add fuel to the fire, accusing AAP of using illegal means to influence the elections, as both major parties continue to attack each other ahead of the February 5 polls.

As this political drama unfolds, Delhi voters will be watching closely to see how these allegations influence their final decisions in the upcoming election.
