The political row over The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond intensified today, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as the Kerala Congress launched a scathing attack on the film’s makers. The controversy erupted after a promotional event in Delhi, where the producers presented 30 women they claimed were “real victims” of forced religious conversion.
However, the Kerala Congress pointed out a glaring detail: while the women reportedly hailed from states like Bengal, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, not a single one was from Kerala.
“Where Are the Kerala Victims?”
In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), the Kerala Congress accused producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah and director Kamakhya Narayan Singh of using the state’s name to peddle a pan-India “propaganda” narrative.
“They couldn’t find a single lady from Kerala. Now, does anyone need any more proof that it is a movie targeted to tarnish Kerala? Why are they targeting Kerala alone?” the party questioned.
The party also took a swipe at the film’s portrayal of food habits, specifically a scene in the trailer showing forced beef consumption.
- The Beef Debate: “If beef eating is the issue, why is the BJP not making movies about Goa and North Eastern states where it is legal?” the post added.
- CM’s Stance: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan also condemned the sequel as “poisonous,” stating that it attempts to paint a land of religious harmony as a hub of terror.
The Film: ‘The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond’
Despite the pushback, the makers maintain the film is a research-backed awareness project.
