Congress Questions Ceasefire Terms After Pahalgam Attack; BSF Highlights Response In Operation Sindoor

New Delhi [India], May 27: Congress leader Pawan Khera has sharply criticized the Centre for not apprehending the terrorists behind major attacks in Poonch (2023), Ganderbal (October 2, 2024), and Pahalgam (April 2025), raising concerns over the government’s transparency regarding the recent ceasefire with Pakistan.

Speaking at a press conference, Khera questioned the conditions behind the abrupt ceasefire announcement following Operation Sindoor and demanded clarity on the fate of globally wanted terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar. “There should be serious discussions on serious issues,” he asserted, calling for a special Parliament session and an all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) addressed the media on Tuesday, shedding light on India’s decisive retaliation following the Pahalgam attack. BSF Inspector General Shashank Anand confirmed that India inflicted significant damage on Pakistani military infrastructure during retaliatory shelling on May 9 and 10.

“Several Pakistani posts were damaged, and the enemy’s morale was visibly shaken,” Anand stated, emphasizing that India suffered no casualties due to prior preparation.

Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was a full-scale military response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. It resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The operation extended to drone strikes and shelling that targeted Pakistan’s radar systems, airfields, and communication hubs across 11 airbases.

In retaliation, Pakistan initiated cross-border shelling and attempted drone incursions, prompting a strong Indian military response. By May 10, both nations reportedly reached a mutual understanding to cease hostilities — a move now under scrutiny by the opposition.
