New Delhi [India], February 13 : Congress Lok Sabha MP Manish Tewari on Thursday moved a notice to adjourn the business of the House in order to discuss the establishment of a renewable energy facility near the Indo-Pakistan border.
In his notice to the Lok Sabha Secretary General, Tewari expressed concerns over reports suggesting that a private company is setting up a large renewable energy facility close to the Indo-Pakistan border. He noted that the region had been a conflict zone during the 1965 war and raised alarm about the potential security implications of such infrastructure near a strategic military area. Tewari called for a discussion in the House to seek clarification from the Government on the rationale behind permitting such a facility, especially considering the potential risks to national security.
Meanwhile, Congress MP from Kerala, Hibi Eden, submitted a notice regarding the tragic case of Jolly Madhu, a Coir Board employee. According to Eden, Jolly, who had been battling cancer since 2016, faced harassment for refusing to approve inflated cost estimates and for not complying with improper directives from her superior. In August 2024, she was unjustly transferred from her hometown Kochi to Rajahmundry, violating government policies. Her appeals went unanswered, and her salary was withheld. In January 2025, the new Secretary demanded she apologize to the Chairman, adding to her distress. On January 31st, Jolly suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while under stress and passed away on February 10, 2025. Eden urged the House to discuss this matter in detail, stressing the need for justice in this case.
