Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has given a glowing review of Aryan Khan’s directorial debut series, The Bads of Bollywood, calling the satire on the Hindi film industry “absolute #OTT GOLD” and a “masterpiece.”
Aryan Khan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, surprised many by choosing filmmaking over acting for his Bollywood debut. His seven-episode series, which offers an exaggerated and insightful look into the inner workings of the film industry, had already been declared a hit by netizens and enjoyed by critics.
Tharoor took to his official social media account to share his thoughts on the show, praising its quality despite initially being confined to recovery with a cold and cough.
“Irresistibly Hooked”
The political leader stated that his staff and sister, Smita Tharoor, persuaded him to watch the Netflix series, which he described as “one of the best things I have ever treated myself to.”
Tharoor’s high praise focused on the show’s daring and sharp commentary:
- “The writing is sharp, the direction is fearless, and the sheer audacity of this satire is just what Bollywood needed.”
- He noted that while it “takes time to grow on you,” viewers become “irresistibly hooked.”

Tharoor specifically highlighted the show’s use of industry tropes and insider jokes, which he felt successfully drew the audience into the narrative.
