Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) : Amid international acknowledgment of the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, senior Congress leader and MP Pramod Tiwari expressed dissatisfaction with the announcement being first shared by the United States.
“A powerful country like India… the President of another country, America, tweeted that there has been an understanding between India and Pakistan. This message should have come from New Delhi, not from Washington. This is a painful statement of this era,” Tiwari said, while lauding the Indian Army as “the best in the world.”
He emphasized that India’s armed forces have consistently demonstrated their strength and are capable of defending the country’s sovereignty by neutralizing threats at their source.
Tiwari called for a special session of Parliament to discuss the developments surrounding Operation Sindoor and to formally honor the armed forces:
“There should be a detailed discussion in our Parliament to salute those brave soldiers.”
Earlier today, the US State Department welcomed the de-escalation and praised both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif for “choosing the path of peace,” adding that President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio continue to encourage direct communication between the two nations.
The US statement also reiterated its willingness to facilitate productive discussions to avert future conflict, while emphasizing the need to maintain a full ceasefire.
The political commentary comes in the wake of India’s high-profile military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine key terror camps across Pakistan and PoK, along with 11 Pakistani military airbases, causing substantial damage to terror and military infrastructure.
