New Delhi (India), March 26: In response to the BJP Minority Morcha’s initiative to distribute ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ kits to underprivileged Muslims, Congress MP Imran Masood expressed a cautious welcome but raised concerns about whether the move truly reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s views.
Masood stated, “If this aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s views, I welcome it. However, there are about 25 crore Muslims in India, and 95% of them live in poverty. Muslims need more than just this kit. If the Prime Minister genuinely wants to help the Muslim community, he should focus on ensuring their safety, as well as providing access to education and employment opportunities.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minority Morcha recently launched its “Saugat-e-Modi” campaign, which aims to distribute special kits to 32 lakh underprivileged Muslim families ahead of Eid. The campaign, initiated in Nizamuddin, Delhi, on Tuesday under the leadership of BJP National President JP Nadda, intends to help poor Muslim families celebrate Eid without facing hardship. The effort will involve 32,000 Minority Morcha workers collaborating with 32,000 mosques across the country to ensure the kits reach the needy.
Jamal Siddiqui, National President of the BJP Minority Morcha, explained that the campaign is designed to reach out to the Muslim community during key events like Ramadan, Eid, Good Friday, Easter, Nauruz, and the Indian New Year. The Minority Morcha also plans to organize Eid Milan celebrations at the district level.
Yasir Zilani, the National Media Charge of the BJP Minority Morcha, added that the “Saugat-e-Modi” scheme aims to promote welfare schemes among the Muslim community while simultaneously garnering political support for the BJP and its allies in the NDA.
