In a sharp attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly, Pratap Singh Bajwa, accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of being a party that “only commits fraud.”
Speaking to media, Bajwa compared Bhagwant Mann’s political position to that of Mughal prince Dara Shikoh, saying that he is “imprisoned in Red Fort” and is merely a facade for power in Punjab.
Key Accusations by Bajwa
- Bajwa claimed that Bhagwant Mann himself wants Arvind Kejriwal to lose in the Delhi elections, as he is well aware of AAP’s “fraudulent nature.”
- He further questioned Arvind Kejriwal’s credibility, citing social activist Anna Hazare’s lack of trust in the former Delhi CM.
- Accusing both Kejriwal and Mann of dishonesty, he said, “Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann have a double PhD in lying.”
Congress vs AAP vs BJP in Delhi Elections
The attack on AAP comes as the Delhi Assembly elections approach on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are contesting for 70 assembly seats in the capital.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also took a dig at both AAP and BJP, accusing them of making false promises to Delhi’s citizens.
- He specifically challenged Arvind Kejriwal to drink the water of the Yamuna River, reminding voters that the AAP chief had earlier promised to clean the river and drink its water five years ago.
Congress’ Struggles in Delhi
The Congress party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years under Sheila Dikshit, has failed to win any seats in the last two assembly elections, with AAP dominating the state politics. However, the party is hoping for a revival in the upcoming elections.
With AAP, BJP, and Congress engaged in intense attacks on one another, the Delhi elections are shaping up to be a high-stakes political battle.
