New Delhi, India – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially said that the people who carried out the recent Pahalgam terror incident were Pakistani citizens who were members of the outlawed group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The NIA has not yet named the terrorists publicly, saying that data would be disclosed “at an appropriate time.” They have arrested two people from Kashmir who apparently identified the three armed attackers.
This news comes out in the middle of a heated political fight started by P. Chidambaram, the leader of the Congress Party and former Union Home Minister. Chidambaram’s first statements, which hinted at the possibility of “homegrown terrorists” and questioned the lack of solid proof that the attackers were from Pakistan, were quickly and harshly criticized by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s IT Cell, instantly went to social media site X (previously Twitter) to say that the Congress was “once again rushing to give a clean chit to Pakistan.” He posted a video from Chidambaram’s interview with The Quint that focused on his controversial comments.
All those who are trigger happy & jumpy must watch the interview in its entirety before commenting. It’s a 40 minute interview FYI https://t.co/bvMk7sXIkA

Chidambaram responded by making his position on X clear. He said that “trolls” were unfairly targeting him by disseminating false information by only showing certain parts of his interview. He wrote, “The worst kind is a troll who hides the whole recorded interview, takes two sentences, mutes some words, and paints the speaker in black!” to defend the truth of what he said.
Trolls are of different kinds and use different tools to spread misinformation

The worst kind is a troll who suppresses the full recorded interview, takes two sentences, mutes some words, and paints the speaker in a black colour!
Chidambaram had stressed during the interview that the Narendra Modi government needed to give other countries proof that Pakistan was responsible for the terror attack at the international level. He had also asked relevant questions about the inquiry, such as, “Why haven’t you caught the terrorists?” Why haven’t you even named them?
Karti Chidambaram said the same thing as his father and told “all those who are trigger happy and jumpy” to watch the whole interview. He showed a clip of P. Chidambaram talking about how worried he was about the “complete silence” around the attackers’ names and the “bits and pieces” of information that different offices were releasing. He stressed how important it is to be clear about national security issues.
P. Chidambaram, former UPA-era Home Minister and the original proponent of the infamous “Saffron Terror” theory, covers himself with glory yet again:

The BJP, on the other hand, is still firmly against it. In another X post, Malviya said again, “When it comes to national security, there should be no doubt.” But with the Congress, there never is—they always bend over backwards to support the enemy.
The political argument is getting more heated before an important meeting in Parliament where “Operation Sindoor,” India’s strategic reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack and the diplomatic activities surrounding it, will be discussed. The Lok Sabha will talk on the issue on Monday, and the Rajya Sabha will do the same on Tuesday. This shows how important the event and its aftermath are to the country.
