Congress Releases Fourth List Of Candidates For Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

The Indian National Congress unveiled its fourth list of candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections late Wednesday night, naming nominees for five constituencies.

The list includes Surender Kumar for the Bawana constituency, reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), and Rahul Dhanak for Karol Bagh, also an SC-reserved seat. Other candidates are Sumesh Gupta from Rohini, Virender Bhiduri from Tughlakabad, and Arjun Bhadana from Badarpur.

With these additions, Congress has declared candidates for 68 of Delhi’s 70 assembly seats.

On Tuesday, Congress released its third list, naming 16 candidates, including former AAP MLA Dharam Pal Lakda from Mundka and former Union Minister Krishna Tirath from Patel Nagar. Other notable candidates include Rajesh Gupta (Kirari), Kunwar Karan Singh (Model Town), Prem Sharma (Hari Nagar), Harbani Kaur (Janakpuri), and Vishesh Tokas (RK Puram).

The party has also fielded Ishwar Bagri in place of Pramod Kr Jayant for the Gokalpur assembly constituency.

Delhi Election Updates
The Delhi Assembly polls are scheduled for February 5, with a single-phase election. Counting of votes will take place on February 8. The last date for filing nominations is January 17, followed by scrutiny on January 18 and the deadline for withdrawal of candidature on January 20.

While the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already announced candidates for all 70 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared nominees for 59 constituencies.

Congress, once a dominant force in Delhi with 15 years of consecutive rule, has faced significant electoral setbacks in recent years. In the 2020 assembly elections, Congress failed to secure any seats, while AAP claimed a sweeping victory with 62 out of 70 seats. The BJP managed to win the remaining eight seats.
