New Delhi [India]: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived at the party’s newly constructed headquarters, ‘Indira Bhawan,’ on Wednesday, ahead of its official inauguration. Located at 9A, Kotla Road, the new office marks a significant chapter in the party’s 139-year legacy.
The inauguration, scheduled for 10:00 am, will be presided over by Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP). She will be joined by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
The event is set to host prominent leaders from across the country, including Congress Working Committee (CWC) members, former Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and Members of Parliament.
Leaders Reflect on the Transition
Reflecting on the party’s historic journey, Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan emphasized the significance of the previous headquarters at 24, Akbar Road.
“24, Akbar Road was historic and will always remain so. It gave us four Prime Ministers and witnessed both the highs and lows of the Congress Party. Moving into ‘Indira Bhawan’ is a moment of renewal and enthusiasm,” Ranjan stated.
Senior leader Ambika Soni added, “This new headquarters heralds a fresh phase for the Congress Party. It signifies hope and determination to advance our mission.”
Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa highlighted the broader political implications, noting, “A strong and vibrant opposition is essential for democracy. This new chapter for the Congress Party is a positive sign for all secular nationalist forces.”

The new headquarters, named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, symbolizes the Congress Party’s commitment to its historical mission of nation-building. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) release underscored the party’s role in India’s freedom movement and its enduring dedication to creating a modern, democratic, and equitable nation.
Designed to meet the administrative, organizational, and strategic needs of the party, the headquarters features state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring it serves as a hub for decision-making and coordination.
Event Highlights
Approximately 400 top leaders have been invited to the ceremony, including CWC members, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Presidents, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Leaders, and AICC Secretaries and Joint Secretaries. Distinguished guests also include former Chief Ministers, General Secretaries, and Heads of various Departments and Cells.
As posters referring to the building as ‘Sardar Manmohan Singh Bhawan’ were spotted at the venue, the inauguration reflects both continuity and a forward-looking vision for the Congress Party.
