A day after confirming that his wedding to Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana had been called off, composer Palash Muchhal has removed all videos featuring her from his social media accounts. This includes the highly-publicized, dreamy proposal video where he proposed to Mandhana at a cricket stadium.
The videos, which captured moments like the proposal at the DY Patil Stadium (site of the Women’s World Cup final) and the celebration of the Indian women’s cricket team’s World Cup win, were posted last month but are now absent from Muchhal’s Instagram account.
Wedding Cancellation and Rumours
Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana were scheduled to marry on November 24 in Sangli, Smriti’s hometown. However, the wedding was initially postponed indefinitely on the morning of the event, with Smriti’s manager citing the sudden illness of her father.
Following the postponement, rumors quickly surfaced alleging that Palash had been caught cheating with a choreographer during the pre-wedding festivities. Muchhal and his family had flown back to Mumbai, where he was briefly hospitalized for stress. The choreographers involved subsequently denied the rumours.
Official Statements Confirm Breakup
On Sunday, both individuals released separate statements confirming the cancellation of the wedding:
- Smriti Mandhana urged for privacy for both families in her Instagram story.
- Palash Muchhal posted a separate statement, confirming the end of the relationship: “I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship.”
Muchhal also directly addressed the rumors of infidelity:
“It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me… I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip, whose sources are never identified. Our words can wound in ways we may never understand.”
