Union Cabinet Condemns Red Fort Car Blast As ‘Heinous Terror Attack’, Orders Swift Action Against Perpetrators

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday strongly condemned the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed 10 people and injured several others, describing it as a “heinous terror incident perpetrated by anti-national forces.”

Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet passed a formal resolution directing agencies to ensure that the perpetrators, collaborators, and sponsors behind the attack are identified and brought to justice “without delay.”

“The government has witnessed a heinous terror incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces, through a car explosion near the Red Fort on the evening of 10 November 2025. The explosion resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries,” the Cabinet statement said.

First Official Acknowledgement of a Terror Attack

The resolution marks the first formal statement by the government acknowledging that the Red Fort blast was an act of terrorism.

Earlier, the first information report (FIR) registered on the explosion invoked provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and the probe was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

“The Cabinet unequivocally condemns this dastardly and cowardly act that has led to the loss of innocent lives. The Cabinet reiterates India’s unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the resolution read.

The Cabinet also expressed appreciation for the international messages of solidarity and support received from various governments around the world.

PM Modi-Led Meeting: National Security Priority

Officials said the situation is being closely monitored at the highest levels of the government. The Cabinet reaffirmed its “steadfast resolve to safeguard the lives and well-being of all Indians, consistent with its enduring commitment to national security and the safety of every citizen.”

At a late-evening briefing, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw declined to comment on whether the attackers were linked to domestic groups or foreign-based networks, citing the ongoing investigation.

JeM Module, Explosives Seizure Linked to Red Fort Blast

Investigators have reportedly traced connections between the Delhi explosion and an extremist module busted earlier this week in Faridabad, allegedly linked to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

Sources said the module included individuals with ties to Al Falah University in Haryana.

The NIA has so far linked several key developments:

  • JeM posters appearing in Nowgam, Kashmir, on October 18
  • The arrests of three doctors – Adeel Rather (Saharanpur), Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie (Faridabad), and Shaheen Shahid (Lucknow)
  • The recovery of nearly 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate, along with other explosive materials and firearms in Faridabad

Investigators believe these events are part of a coordinated terror network, culminating in the Red Fort car blast on November 10.
