Bharti Singh, a well-known comedian and TV host, recently told a very intimate story from her life. She said that she was a “unwanted child” and that her mother tried to abort her several times while she was pregnant. Bharti talked about her life, profession, and the money problems she had as a child in an open and honest interview on Raj Shamani’s YouTube channel.
When the host questioned Bharti if the allegation of her mother trying to abort the pregnancy was accurate, she answered with a lot of honesty. She said that she was the third child of her parents. Her dad worked in a factory, while her mom stayed at home to take care of the house. Her mother was overwhelmed by the idea of having another kid because they were having trouble with money. “First of all, I didn’t even know I was pregnant.” Bharti added that her mother didn’t find out she was pregnant until two or three months later. “Phir meri mummy ne itni sari jadi-bootiyan khayi, paer ke baal hoke pochey maare, papita kha liya, khajoor kha liye ki ye rahe hi na (My mother tried everything, from eating various herbs to cleaning the house on her hands and knees, and eating papaya and dates, all so that I would not survive).
Bharti was determined to be born, even though her mother tried everything to stop it. She kept telling her narrative with a mix of comedy and emotion, exclaiming, “Par aana hi tha mujhe!” Meri mama ne khud mujhe paida kiya hai! Meri mummy ghar pe akeli thi raat ko, meri papa ki duty thi. We just called the dai to cut the umbilical cord, and he charged us ₹60 for it! Main ₹60 mein hoon. I gave my mom a house for ₹1.60 crore today (But I had to come! My mom had me all by herself. My father was on duty, so she was home alone at night. She spent ₹60 to have a midwife cut the umbilical cord for her. I was born for ₹60, and now I purchased my mom a house for ₹1.6 crore!
Bharti was born in Amritsar, Punjab, in 1984. Her father died when she was just two years old. Her mother reared her and her two older siblings, a brother and a sister, all by herself.
Bharti’s career has been nothing short of amazing, starting from very humble origins. She became famous after she came in second place on the comic reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. She became a household name after being on popular series like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 and Nach Baliye 8, and she was a regular on The Kapil Sharma Show.
