‘Come Up’ With Rahul Gandhi To Drink Water Of Yamuna Near Raj Ghat In Delhi: Haryana CM Saini To Kejriwal

Panipat (Haryana) [India], January 30: Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has invited Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, to drink the Yamuna river water near Raj Ghat in Delhi, amid the ongoing controversy over the alleged toxicity of the river water.

The issue of the Yamuna river’s alleged contamination has gained significant attention ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, with Kejriwal accusing the Haryana government of poisoning the river’s water supplied to Delhi. However, Saini hit back, accusing Kejriwal of making baseless claims for political gain.

“Kejriwal has failed to address the issue of cleaning the Yamuna, despite promising to do so in every election. Instead, he has resorted to making false allegations against the Haryana government,” Saini told reporters. “Haryana provides clean Yamuna water, but Kejriwal blames us for his political purposes.”

Saini challenged Kejriwal, inviting him and Rahul Gandhi to drink the Yamuna water near Raj Ghat to prove the water’s quality. “There is no shortage of water supply from Haryana. The issue lies in how the Delhi government distributes it. I invite Kejriwal to come along with Rahul Gandhi and drink the water from the Yamuna,” Saini added.

The exchange between the two leaders escalated when Kejriwal accused Saini of pretending to drink the water during a visit to Palla village on January 30. Kejriwal claimed Saini had spat the water back after taking a sip, sharing a video of the incident on social media.

On Monday, Kejriwal accused the BJP-led Haryana government of “poisoning” the Yamuna water to harm Delhi residents and blame the AAP-led Delhi government. Voting for the Delhi Assembly elections is scheduled for February 5, with the results to be counted on February 8.
