New York: Colombian President Gustavo Petro delivered a passionate final address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly, sharply criticizing the United States and global power abuses, with pointed remarks aimed at former President Donald Trump.
Petro accused Trump of “descertifying” Colombia and undermining progressive governments due to pressure from mafia-linked politicians. He condemned Trump’s anti-drug and immigration policies, blaming them for violence against Latin American migrants, the collapse of anti-narcotics efforts, and missile strikes targeting unarmed youth.
Further, Petro leveled accusations of complicity in the Gaza conflict, likening Trump’s actions to support for genocide and totalitarianism. He concluded by emphasizing the need for a global awakening: a “revolution of united humanity” to confront racism, greed, and climate inaction.
