Colman Domingo Supports ‘Euphoria’ Co-Star Eric Dane Following ALS Diagnosis

Washington [US], April 13: Actor Colman Domingo has voiced his support for ‘Euphoria’ co-star Eric Dane, following Dane’s recent public announcement that he has been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

Speaking to People magazine, Domingo said, “I haven’t been able to speak with him yet. I just got the news yesterday too, and I’m wishing him well. I look forward to working with him.” The Emmy-winning actor is expected to reunite with Dane on the set of HBO’s Euphoria as season three begins production on April 14.

Eric Dane, 52, who plays the complex character Cal Jacobs on the hit series, shared his diagnosis on April 10. “I have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” Dane told People. Despite the diagnosis, he confirmed his intention to continue acting: “I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to the set of Euphoria next week.”

Dane is married to actress Rebecca Gayheart, and the couple shares two daughters: Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13.

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a rare and progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It leads to muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventually impacts the ability to speak, eat, walk, and breathe. According to the Mayo Clinic, while there is no known cure, some individuals may live with the disease for decades. On average, life expectancy after diagnosis ranges between three to five years.

Dane now joins a list of notable public figures diagnosed with ALS, including Stephen Hawking, Roberta Flack, Aaron Lazar, Kenneth Mitchell, and others. His determination to continue working despite the diagnosis has inspired many fans and co-stars alike, with Colman Domingo being among the first to publicly share words of support.
