Chris Martin wins hearts with Hindi phrases and electrifying performance as India tour begins
Mumbai, January 19: Coldplay began their highly anticipated India tour with an unforgettable performance at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on Saturday evening, blending iconic hits, stunning visuals, and a special nod to Indian culture that left fans thrilled.
The British band, led by Chris Martin, is set to perform two more shows in Mumbai on Sunday and Tuesday before heading to Ahmedabad for consecutive concerts on January 25 and 26 as part of their global “Music of the Spheres” tour.
An Evening of Musical Bliss
From performing legendary tracks like “Fix You” and “A Sky Full of Stars” to turning the stadium into a kaleidoscope of lights, confetti, and vibrant designs, Coldplay delivered a show that resonated deeply with their audience.
Chris Martin charmed the crowd by incorporating Hindi phrases into his interactions. After concluding a song, he warmly thanked the audience with a heartfelt “Shukriya” (thank you). The moment that truly brought the house down, however, was when Martin read out “Jai Shri Ram” from a fan’s placard, prompting thunderous applause. Curious about its meaning, Martin asked the crowd, showcasing his genuine connection with the attendees.
A Sacred Start to the Tour
Before the concert, Martin and his partner, actress Dakota Johnson, were seen visiting the Shri Babulnath Temple in traditional attire, reflecting their appreciation for Indian culture and spirituality.
