Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 27: The 2012 romantic drama Cocktail, directed by Homi Adajania, is set for a grand return to theatres nearly 13 years after its original release. Known for its fresh take on love, friendship, and emotional complexities, the film will be re-released across PVR INOX cinemas on May 30, as part of the cinema chain’s Curated Shows initiative.
Starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty in lead roles, Cocktail marked a turning point in Bollywood’s portrayal of modern relationships. Diana Penty made her Bollywood debut with the film, and Deepika Padukone’s performance as the bold and carefree Veronica received widespread acclaim.
Announcing the re-release, PVR Cinemas shared the film’s poster and captioned:

The story revolves around Meera (Penty), a reserved young woman who is taken in by the lively and rebellious Veronica (Padukone) in a foreign city. The dynamics shift when Veronica’s boyfriend Gautam (Khan) finds himself falling for Meera, leading to an emotional rollercoaster of love, betrayal, and self-discovery.
The film also features Boman Irani, Dimple Kapadia, and Randeep Hooda in pivotal roles.
Cocktail was a commercial success and gained cult status for its vibrant soundtrack, including chartbusters like “Tumhi Ho Bandhu,” “Daaru Desi,” “Second-Hand Jawaani,” and “Yaariyan.” Its picturesque locations in the UK and South Africa added to the visual appeal and helped cement the film’s popularity with younger audiences.
