Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh – : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored the legacy of the late Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Chaudhary Ajit Singh on Wednesday by unveiling his statue at Shri Vidhya Mandir Inter College in Baghpat.
Paying tribute to Ajit Singh, Adityanath described him as a visionary technocrat and scientist who pursued computer science long before its widespread recognition. He highlighted Singh’s dedication to the country’s service and development.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi stated, “He was a technocrat, a scientist, and when people had little to no knowledge about computer science, he had a degree in it and was furthering his knowledge of it. He came for the service of the country and dedicated his life to the development of the country.”
Emphasizing Singh’s contributions, the Chief Minister urged people to take inspiration from his work and continue his legacy. “Today he is no longer with us, but his guidance and his works remain. We should take inspiration from him and work on his path,” he said.
₹350 Crore Development Projects Announced
During the event, CM Yogi also announced new development projects worth over ₹350 crore for Baghpat. He stated that these initiatives would focus on key sectors, including educational institutions, connectivity, and road infrastructure, aiming to boost regional development.
“Today when we have all gathered here, I feel happy to announce that over ₹350 crore worth of projects are being inaugurated in Baghpat. Many major projects will enhance institutions, connectivity, and road infrastructure,” he remarked.
Magh Purnima Snan in Maha Kumbh Successfully Concludes
CM Yogi also spoke about the successful completion of the Magh Purnima ‘snan’ (holy dip) in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. He noted the massive participation, with over 50 crore devotees taking a dip in the Sangam since the festival began.
“Today, on the occasion of Magh Purnima, crores of people are taking a dip in the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. This is the new Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 25 crores, and till yesterday, 50 crore people have taken a holy dip in Prayagraj.”
Urban Development Department Secretary Anuj Jha called the successful conclusion of the ‘snan’ a major achievement, stating, “The snan of Magh Purnima has concluded successfully. It is a huge milestone for us. Lakhs of Kalpavasis and crores of pilgrims have visited here in the last month. Urban Development was the nodal department, and all the arrangements were efficiently managed.”
Officials confirmed that the total number of pilgrims visiting the Mela grounds had reached 38.83 million, with over 10 million Kalpwasis staying in the area. As of February 11, 2025, the cumulative count of devotees performing ‘snan’ had exceeded 462.5 million, with numbers expected to rise further on upcoming auspicious bathing dates.
Enhanced Security and Management for Maha Kumbh 2025
Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar elaborated on security and management measures implemented for the fifth ‘snan’—Magh Purnima. He mentioned that lessons were learned from the Mauni Amavasya mishap, leading to improved planning and execution.
He further stated that the “Build Back Better” management strategy was applied, incorporating feedback from the community to enhance arrangements for devotees.
Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting millions of devotees from across the globe. The grand event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.
