Yogi Adityanath Announces Financial Aid Schemes for Buddhist and Sikh Pilgrims in Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed the launch of two major pilgrimage support schemes — the Bauddha Teertha Darshan Yojana and the Panch Takht Yatra Yojana — aimed at facilitating spiritual travel for Buddhist and Sikh devotees, respectively.
Chairing a high-level meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that pilgrimages are vital for spiritual upliftment and social harmony, and it is the government’s responsibility to support citizens in accessing sacred sites.
“Pilgrimages are a means of spiritual upliftment and social harmony, and it is the government’s responsibility to assist citizens in reaching places associated with their faith,” said CM Yogi Adityanath.
Scheme Highlights:
1. Bauddha Teertha Darshan Yojana
- Targets Hindu and Buddhist residents of Uttar Pradesh.
- Offers a minimum of ₹10,000 per person as financial aid for visiting prominent Buddhist pilgrimage sites across India.
- Priority will be given to Buddhist monks in the selection process.
2. Panch Takht Yatra Yojana
- For Sikh devotees from Uttar Pradesh.
- Covers all five sacred Takht Sahib sites:
- Shri Anandpur Sahib (Punjab)
- Shri Akal Takht Sahib (Amritsar, Punjab)
- Shri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo, Punjab)
- Shri Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib (Nanded, Maharashtra)
- Shri Harmandir Ji Sahib (Patna Sahib, Bihar)
Implementation Details:
- ₹10,000 financial support per pilgrim.
- Schemes to be implemented in partnership with IRCTC.
- Fully online application process.
- Economically weaker sections to be prioritized.
- Special attention to devotees’ safety, convenience, and religious sentiments.
CM Adityanath said these schemes are a reflection of the state’s commitment to inclusive development, and align with the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ vision while also promoting national unity under ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
