CM Yogi Highlights Welfare Schemes And Development Plans In Jaunpur

Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday announced that 4 lakh daughters have been married under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting families and ensuring no daughter remains unmarried.

Speaking at the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana event in Jaunpur, CM Yogi said, “I am happy that the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana is a successful scheme. When we launched this scheme, people used to laugh and say it was an insult to the poor. As we approach 2025, I am proud to say that 4 lakh daughters have been married under this scheme. No daughter should remain unmarried. Beti ka kanyadaan humlog (government) karenge. We will stand with families as their support.”

The Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana was introduced in October 2017 with the goal of assisting financially challenged families by covering wedding expenses.

The Chief Minister further announced that starting April, Rs 1 lakh will be provided as financial assistance to all brides under the scheme. He highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ agenda, which promotes inclusive growth.

“I congratulate the couples and families present. In our state, 1 crore 86 lakh people connected to the Ujjwala Yojana have been provided free gas cylinders. Development must continue, and the double-engine government is committed to achieving this,” CM Yogi added.

Focusing on poverty alleviation, CM Yogi emphasized the government’s mission to uplift those living below the poverty line.

“The next financial year will see Rs 1 lakh provided to every bride under the scheme. Academically gifted girls will receive scooties. To achieve zero poverty, the government will ensure marginalized communities receive benefits from all welfare schemes,” he said.

On infrastructure, CM Yogi announced plans to develop Jaunpur as a smart city, assuring that funds would be properly utilized to improve local infrastructure.

“We are going to make Jaunpur a smart city. Problems will be resolved, and there’s no shortage of funds. Roads are improving, and land acquisition has started for the bypass near Mungra Badshahpur. Additionally, 17 flyovers have been approved for the Jaunpur area,” CM Yogi stated.

The Chief Minister also addressed criticisms regarding the preparations for Maha Kumbh 2025, stating that negativity spread by the opposition had no impact on public faith.

“The negative propaganda and misinformation had no effect on people’s devotion. As I have said before, ‘Jiski jaisi drishti waisi uski srishti’. They attempted to defame Prayagraj, but they failed,” he remarked.

CM Yogi hailed the Maha Kumbh as a true representation of Sanatan Dharma and India’s spiritual heritage.

“The Maha Kumbh is a reflection of Sanatan Dharma. The world witnessed this with surprise and curiosity. Through the Maha Kumbh, Uttar Pradesh had the opportunity to showcase India’s true identity — Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat,” CM Yogi said.

He also criticized the Congress party for opposing positive initiatives, recalling the 1954 Kumbh Mela under Congress rule that was marked by mismanagement and tragedy.

“They oppose every good initiative. The 1954 Kumbh Mela, organized when Congress was in power, was plagued by corruption, disorder, and chaos, resulting in over 1,000 deaths. Such incidents occurred repeatedly during their tenure,” CM Yogi claimed.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 concluded on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri on February 26, with over 66 crore 21 lakh devotees participating in the holy Triveni bath.
