Mahakumbh Nagar (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced significant progress in preparations for the grand Mahakumbh 2025, emphasizing the collaboration between the Central and State Governments and various departments.
Speaking after a review meeting in Prayagraj, CM Yogi noted, “Every institution is actively engaged to ensure the success of this grand event.” He stressed that Mahakumbh is not only a religious festival but also an opportunity to showcase Prayagraj’s exceptional hospitality and global reputation.
Preparations Underway
The Chief Minister detailed the ongoing efforts for the “Sanatan Gaurav Mahakumbh,” highlighting the allocation of land to over 20,000 saints and institutions, including all 13 Akharas, Dandiwada, Acharyawada, Prayagwal Sabha, and Khak Chowk. The remaining allotments are expected to conclude by January 5.
CM Yogi emphasized the “double-engine government” is ensuring land availability and necessary facilities to make Mahakumbh 2025 a landmark event.
Infrastructure and Developments
- Pontoon Bridges: The number of pontoon bridges has increased to 30, with 20 already completed. The remaining bridges will be finished by December 30.
- Checkered Plates: Out of a planned 651 kilometers, 330 kilometers have been laid.
- Signage: 250 signs have been installed in the fairgrounds, with 661 placed across the city.
- River Management: Clean and sufficient water levels in the Ganga and Yamuna are ensured through functional STPs and bioremediation techniques.
- Power Infrastructure: The Power Corporation has operationalized 77 substations of 400 KVA, 12 of 250 KVA, and 94 of 128 substations of 100 KVA. Additionally, 48,000 LED streetlights, 1,160 kilometers of LT lines, and 160 kilometers of HT lines have been installed.
Enhanced Visitor Experience
For the first time, Prayagraj will feature a riverfront along the Ganga, complemented by newly constructed concrete ghats, including Arail Ghat, which will be completed by December 30.
Newly developed heritage corridors, including the Akshay Vat Corridor, Bade Hanuman Ji Corridor, Saraswati Koop Corridor, and Patalpuri Corridor, will allow devotees to explore Prayagraj’s cultural legacy. Replicas of the Dwadash Jyotirlinga and the grand Triveni Pushp initiative add to the spiritual and aesthetic appeal.
Tent City and Healthcare
A Tent City, organized by the Prayagraj Mela Authority, will accommodate 20,000 devotees, with VIP tents for 5,000–6,000 visitors. The Health Department has established a 100-bed temporary hospital and several 25-bed facilities across key locations.
Security Measures
Trained ‘Apda Mitras,’ alongside NDRF and SDRF teams, have been deployed for the first time to assist devotees, ensuring safety throughout the event.
CM Yogi concluded by urging the people of Prayagraj to collaborate in making Mahakumbh 2025 a resounding success, celebrating its spiritual and cultural significance while enhancing the city’s global reputation.
