Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 14: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh, inaugurated the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in Lucknow on Monday, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.
Addressing the event, CM Yogi underlined the vital role of tribunals in delivering timely justice to government employees and officers, whose cases have been stuck in the judicial system for years.
“Today is very important for us, being the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Tribunals were created with a clear objective—to reduce the burden on courts and provide timely justice based on merit,” Yogi Adityanath said.
The Chief Minister explained that tribunals like CAT are designed to ensure justice for central government employees, especially those who feel they have been wronged but have found no redress through the regular court system.
“The CAT will serve central government employees from 16 districts (janpadas) of Uttar Pradesh. A dedicated building has been constructed to provide this service, and I am confident that this platform will fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of accessible, timely justice,” he added.
Yogi Adityanath also emphasized that a just government must prioritize rule of law that is simple and understandable to all citizens.
“Even a common citizen should be able to approach the government and have their grievances heard and resolved on merit,” he stressed.
Highlighting the need to eliminate delays in justice, the CM cited a personal example:
“There was a case related to Gorakhpur Math, filed in 1956 and decided only in 1997. Three generations passed by before it reached closure. Delayed justice is no justice at all.”
The establishment of the CAT Lucknow bench is expected to ease the judicial burden and provide an efficient redressal system for administrative grievances within the state.
