CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Unveils Ambedkar Statue, Launches ₹38 Crore Projects In Hamirpur On Ambedkar Jayanti

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India]: On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office complex in Hamirpur on Monday.

During the event, the Chief Minister also dedicated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects worth approximately Rs 38 crore.

Speaking at the event organized by the Congress Party’s Scheduled Castes Department, CM Sukhu paid homage to Ambedkar and praised his leadership, which laid the foundation for a Constitution that ensures equality, justice, and welfare for all sections of society.

“Inspired by Babasaheb’s ideals, the Chief Minister said that the present state government was committed to building a self-reliant and prosperous Himachal Pradesh,” the release stated.

Despite challenges such as reductions in GST compensation and significant cuts in revenue deficit grants by the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions, CM Sukhu highlighted the state government’s efforts to strengthen the fiscal system, noting that positive outcomes were becoming visible.

“Despite the challenges posed by the reduction in GST compensation and significant cuts in revenue deficit grants by the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions, the State Government has taken major steps to strengthen the fiscal system. The positive outcomes are now visible, and we seek continued public support to carry this momentum forward,” Sukhu said.

In a major announcement, CM Sukhu stated that new departments for Nephrology and Neurology would be established at the Hamirpur Medical College, in addition to the already existing Cardiology Department.

“The state government was working to provide the best health and education systems in the country. After establishing the Cardiology Department at Hamirpur Medical College, new departments for Nephrology and Neurology would also be set up. It would offer modern treatment for kidney and neurological ailments within the region,” Sukhu said.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister revealed that Rs 85 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of a dedicated Cancer Care Institute in Hamirpur.

CM Sukhu also emphasized his government’s reforms in the education sector, assuring the public that the state was committed to providing quality education, particularly through the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools.

He criticized the previous government’s approach to education, stating that they had opened multiple educational institutions without any proper budgetary allocation, students, or infrastructure.

“Similar irregularities had been observed in the health sector as well, which the present government was actively rectifying,” he added.

On the topic of the State Budget, CM Sukhu outlined the government’s various welfare and developmental schemes aimed at strengthening the rural economy.

“Minimum support prices for natural farming produce have been raised, and daily wages under MGNREGA have been substantially increased,” he said.
