Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 27: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday conducted an aerial survey of the Jamrani Dam project site in Nainital district, reviewing the progress of the long-delayed multipurpose initiative.
After the survey, CM Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reviving the project, which had remained in limbo for over six decades.
“On behalf of the people of Uttarakhand, I thank PM Modi. This project was pending for over 60 years. Despite many governments coming and going, the work never started. Under PM Modi’s leadership, the project is finally underway, with a target of completion by 2029. We’re committed to ensuring it’s completed on time,” he said while speaking to ANI.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami also attended the launch of The Emergency Diaries: Years that Forged a Leader. He described it as not merely a book but an emotional experience that highlights a critical chapter in India’s political history.
“The book narrates a time when speaking the truth was treated as a crime, and silence became a symbol of submission,” Dhami remarked.
He noted that the book sheds light on a young Narendra Modi’s formative years during the Emergency, portraying him as a resilient voice in an era of suppression. “Reading about his journey fills the mind with pride,” Dhami added.
Published by BlueKraft, The Emergency Diaries is based on first-hand accounts from people who worked with Modi during the Emergency, supported by archival research. It offers a unique perspective into the early years of a leader who would later rise to the global stage.
