New Delhi, India: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday prepared ceremonial ‘Kheer’ ahead of the inaugural budget session of the newly elected BJP government in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. This symbolic gesture was aimed at marking a sweet beginning to the financial proceedings.

A Unique Tradition Begins

Expressing gratitude to all those involved in crafting the budget, CM Rekha Gupta stated:
“A big congratulations to all the leaders, ministers, MLAs, and people who gave their suggestions, as well as our leadership under which we have crafted this budget.”

She further highlighted the uniqueness of the event, saying:

Budget Session Details

The Delhi Legislative Assembly is set to hold its first budget session under the BJP government from March 24 to March 28, with provisions for an extension. The state budget is scheduled to be presented on March 25. This marks a crucial moment for the BJP, which returned to power in Delhi after 27 years in the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly election.

Earlier, auto drivers, traders, and shopkeepers gathered at the Vidhan Sabha to take part in the ‘Kheer’ ceremony. BJP MLA Karnail Singh remarked:
“People from all sections of society, including traders and shopkeepers, have been invited. Today marks the first day of the budget session. ‘Meethi kheer, meetha budget’.”
