In a major crackdown led by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state administration continues to take decisive action against illegally operated madrasas.
On Saturday, three unregistered and non-compliant madrasas in the Bhagwanpur police station area of Roorkee were sealed, according to an official press release.
The administrative team, spearheaded by SDM Bhagwanpur Jitendra Kumar, sealed the illegal madrasas located in Hallu Majra, Makhanpur, and Mohitpur villages. Investigations confirmed that these institutions neither adhered to regulatory standards nor were officially registered. A police force was present to maintain security during the operation.
Following state government directives, an intensive campaign against unlawful madrasas is being run across Uttarakhand. With Saturday’s actions, the total number of sealed illegal madrasas in the state has now reached 180.
Chief Minister Dhami has made it clear that no institution operating outside the legal framework will be tolerated, emphasizing that such stringent actions will continue unabated.
Meanwhile, amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack — in which 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen were killed — CM Dhami has issued another significant directive.
During a meeting at his official residence on Saturday, Dhami instructed senior officials to identify and initiate the deportation process of Pakistani citizens residing in Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister also stressed that strict action must be taken against those availing government benefits through forged documents. He ordered officials to speed up the ongoing verification campaign, emphasizing that penalties must be imposed on landlords and others who fail to properly verify tenants.
These measures reflect the Uttarakhand government’s aggressive stance on maintaining law and order, especially in light of recent national security concerns.
