Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 16: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended a special screening of the film Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut, in Mumbai on Thursday.
In the visuals captured by ANI, Kangana, who is also a politician, was seen warmly greeting the Chief Minister as he arrived at the theater for the screening.
Earlier, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had attended a screening of Emergency in Nagpur, which also features Anupam Kher. Kangana shared pictures from the event on Instagram, where she, Gadkari, and Kher were seen in conversation. She captioned the post, ” #emergency with @gadkari.nitin ji Releasing 17th January.”
Gadkari, who praised the film on X, lauded the team for authentically portraying a dark chapter of India’s history. He wrote, “Joined the special screening of the movie Emergency, featuring @KanganaTeam Ji and Shri @AnupamPKherJi, in Nagpur today. I wholeheartedly thank the filmmakers and actors for presenting this part of our nation’s history with such excellence. I urge everyone to watch this film, which showcases a significant period in India’s history.”
Emergency, which also stars Shreyas Talpade and the late Satish Kaushik, will be released in theaters on January 17. Kangana and Anupam Kher recently discussed their collaboration in the film, which is based on the 21-month-long Emergency imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977.
Kangana expressed her deep admiration for Kher, calling him the “hero” of the film. She mentioned that she would not have proceeded with the project if Kher had turned down the role, emphasizing his ability to portray Jayaprakash Narayan with utmost sincerity.
