CM Yogi Adityanath Praises Union Budget 2025, Calls It A Step Towards ‘Viksit Bharat’

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the Union Budget 2025, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, emphasizing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has categorized the budget into four key focus areas: the poor, youth, farmers, and women. He described the budget as a strong foundation for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

CM Yogi Adityanath stated, “Under the vision of PM Modi, the finance minister has tabled the Union Budget 2025 today. This budget is the foundation stone for achieving the steps taken to attain the rest of Viksit Bharat. PM Modi has categorized this budget into four parts: Poor, youth, farmers, and women. Under the leadership of PM in the last 10 and a half years, the economy has developed, and with this budget, it will grow further. The interest-free loan for improving infrastructure will benefit the states.”

Highlighting the benefits for the middle class, he pointed out tax rebates and exemptions as a positive step.

“Special economic zones for fishermen, loans up to ₹5 lakh for the dairy sector, low-interest loans for farmers, a cotton production mission, stress on improving crop and fruit production, and the announcement of the Anganwadi 2.0 program would be extremely crucial. The best thing is that under PM Modi’s leadership, the government aims to extend these benefits to the last person in society. Over the next five years, a new scheme will provide term loans of up to ₹2 crore to five lakh women, SCs, and STs. Additionally, establishing 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL), ensuring broadband connectivity in secondary schools at the village level, and improving primary healthcare centers are important steps,” he added.

CM Adityanath also welcomed the government’s decision to set up cancer centers in district hospitals over the next three years, particularly benefiting states like Uttar Pradesh.

“The establishment of a Center of Excellence for Skilling and a Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for education will give our youth global recognition. We welcome the announcement of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Yojana for farmers, which will benefit 1.75 crore farmers across the country. Uttar Pradesh will be the biggest beneficiary of this scheme through the Kisan Credit Card. The increase in the credit card limit from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh is commendable. This budget is accelerating the country’s progress towards becoming a five-trillion-dollar economy, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision for the third phase of development,” he said.

Major Tax Relief for Middle Class

During the Union Budget 2025 speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a major tax relief, stating that no income tax will be payable on income up to ₹12 lakh, providing significant relief to taxpayers, especially the middle class.

For salaried taxpayers, this limit is set at ₹12.75 lakh, including the ₹75,000 standard deduction. Sitharaman also mentioned that the new income tax regime will be simplified, with a focus on benefiting the middle class.

However, certain conditions apply. The exemption can be availed only if a taxpayer utilizes relief under various sections of the Income Tax Act, such as ₹1.5 lakh under Section 80CCC and ₹1.5 lakh for home loan interest payments.

Sitharaman stated, “To taxpayers, up to ₹12 lakh of normal income (other than special rate income such as capital gains), a tax rebate is being provided in addition to the benefit due to slab rate reduction in such a manner that there is no tax payable by them.”

The Finance Minister’s announcement of this major tax relief was met with enthusiastic desk-thumping from the treasury benches, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, following the budget presentation, the Lok Sabha was adjourned and will reconvene on February 3 at 11 a.m.
