Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India]: A clash broke out between two groups in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday during the victory celebration of Team India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 win, leading to vandalism and arson. Several vehicles were torched and damaged, prompting authorities to heighten security in the area.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG, Rural) Nimish Agarwal stated that a preliminary investigation is underway.
“There was a clash between the two sides during the victory celebration of Team India. The situation is completely under control right now. The entire incident will be investigated, and all involved will be held responsible. Some people have been injured,” DIG Agarwal told the media.
Indore District Collector Asheesh Singh assured that peace has been restored and urged residents to avoid spreading or believing fake news.
“Peace has been established here. I appeal to everyone to keep patience. Strict action will be taken against those involved,” he said.
Indore Rural SP Hitika Vasal confirmed that adequate security forces are patrolling the area to prevent further unrest.
“Tension arose between the two sides, primarily over firecrackers. The situation is under control now, and we are conducting a thorough investigation. So far, three people have been reported injured,” she added.
The authorities have assured that all necessary actions will be taken against the culprits following the completion of the investigation. The victory celebrations for Team India have thus been overshadowed by the unfortunate incident, leaving residents in shock.
