Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 19: Coldplay’s Mumbai concert on Saturday was an unforgettable experience for both music lovers and cricket fans alike.
During his performance at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin surprised the crowd by mentioning the name of India’s star bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. While performing one of the band’s final songs, Martin said, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage.”
After thanking the audience, Martin added, “He (Bumrah) says he needs to bowl at me now.” The mention of Bumrah sent cricket fans into a frenzy, and many even speculated that the cricketer might make an appearance on stage. While Bumrah didn’t show up, the shout-out from Martin certainly sparked loud cheers from the audience.
Bumrah had recently been named Player of the Series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 after taking 32 wickets in the five-match series against Australia. He also captained India in the first and final Tests of the series.
Coldplay’s India tour continues with performances in Mumbai on January 19 and 21. After Mumbai, the band will head to Ahmedabad for two consecutive shows on January 25 and 26.
