Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin and his girlfriend, actress Dakota Johnson, were seen taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Saturday.
In visuals circulating online, Chris was dressed in black shorts, while Dakota wore a kurta and trousers. The couple had arrived in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela on January 27, with both looking excited as they reached the holy city, drawing attention from the crowd. They were seen sitting in a car, dressed in saffron-colored attire.
Chris and Dakota had previously arrived in India on January 16 for Coldplay’s musical tour. The band held concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, with the last show of the Indian leg of the Music of the Spheres tour taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Republic Day.
During the Ahmedabad concert, Chris Martin paid a heartfelt tribute to India, singing patriotic songs like “Vande Mataram” and “Maa Tujhhe Salaam.” His performance moved the audience, who responded with loud cheers. He concluded the concert with a salute to Mother India and Republic Day wishes. In another special moment, Chris dedicated a song to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah.
Chris Martin now joins a growing list of celebrities who visited Prayagraj to take a dip at the Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh Mela, including veteran actress-politician Hema Malini, who participated in the Mauni Amavasya bath.
Hema Malini, while taking the holy dip, expressed, “It is my good fortune that I got the opportunity to take a ‘snan’ on this auspicious day.”
Other celebrities who also attended the grand religious gathering include Sunil Grover, Kabir Khan, Guru Randhawa, Avinash Tiwary, Mamta Kulkarni, and Anupam Kher.
