Washington [US], December 20: Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has addressed ongoing rumors surrounding his relationship with actress Dakota Johnson, confirming that they are still together. Despite their efforts to keep their romance private, the 47-year-old singer clarified that their bond remains strong, amid speculation in the media.
In a recent interview with E! News, Chris emphasized the importance of love in his life but explained his desire to keep his personal life out of the public eye. “Romantic love is such a big factor in everything,” he said. “Even though it feels right to keep it precious and private, I’m not denying its power.”
Chris, who shares two children—20-year-old Apple Martin and 18-year-old Moses Martin—with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, also spoke fondly of Dakota. He described her as one of his best friends, alongside his children, and mentioned that they had recently enjoyed listening to Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour together.
The couple, who began their relationship in 2017, has long kept their romance low-key. However, in recent months, rumors have swirled about their relationship status. In March, multiple reports suggested they were engaged, although neither Chris nor Dakota confirmed the claims. Later, in August, rumors of a breakup surfaced, but a representative quickly denied them, reassuring fans that the couple was “happily together.”
Adding fuel to the speculation, Dakota was seen in Malibu wearing an emerald ring on her ring finger, which she had been wearing since 2020. However, both Chris and Dakota have made it clear they prefer to keep their relationship private.
Dakota has also spoken about her perspective on relationships in past interviews, drawing from her experience growing up as the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. In a 2022 interview, she explained how her family dynamic shaped her views on love and relationships. “We were all cool. Obviously, there were times where it was not cool, but I experienced that, so I don’t want that in my life,” she said. “It’s better to be kind, and it’s also really nice that everybody actually really loves each other and has each other’s backs.”
