Washington DC [US], April 2: Actor Chris Coy, known for his roles in Treme and The Walking Dead, has joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming DC drama series Lanterns, based on the Green Lantern comics, as reported by Deadline.
Coy will portray Waylon Sanders, a new character described as an intelligent survivor and nervous truck driver, whose age and real name remain a mystery. He is said to be “unbound by the laws of nature.”
The series, helmed by Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy, Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof, and comic book writer Tom King, follows new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and legendary Lantern Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) as they uncover a dark, Earth-based mystery while investigating a murder in the American heartland.

The eight-episode HBO series is produced in collaboration with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Slow Horses director James Hawes is set to direct and produce, with additional episodes helmed by Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov.
Coy’s upcoming projects include Flowevale Street, where he stars alongside Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, and Netflix’s Black Rabbit, in which he appears alongside Jason Bateman and Jude Law.
