Chirag Paswan Hints At Big Move Ahead Of Bihar Elections: Will He Contest Assembly Polls?

New Delhi [India] June 2: In a potential game-changer for Bihar politics, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has left the door open to contesting the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, saying he will abide by his party’s decision.

“I will obey my party’s wishes. For now, we are yet to discuss it,” Paswan said, responding to a proposal raised during a recent party executive meeting.

LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Arun Bharti recently revealed that party leaders have formally urged Paswan to take on a more prominent role in Bihar, aligning with his long-standing message that “Bihar is the centre of my politics.” A survey is currently underway to gauge the potential impact of Paswan contesting, with Bharti stating, “If everything goes well, Chirag Paswan ji will seriously consider it.”

The call for Paswan to enter state politics is seen as a strategic push to further his “Bihar First, Bihari First” vision by directly representing the state in the Assembly.

Despite the growing buzz, Paswan reiterated his support for the current leadership, asserting, “There is no vacancy currently in Bihar for the post of CM. CM Nitish Kumar will lead a strong NDA government after the election results, under the vision of PM Modi.”

Meanwhile, Bihar’s political landscape is shifting as former Union Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh merged his outfit Aap Sabki Awaz (ASA) with Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, adding to the intrigue ahead of the October-November elections.

As the NDA—comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP—gears up for the polls, all eyes are on whether Chirag Paswan will take the plunge and contest, possibly reshaping the dynamics in Bihar’s high-stakes political battle.
