OREM, UTAH — Erika Kirk, the wife of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has been seen in public for the first time since her husband was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10. Kirk, who was 31 years old, was shot in the neck while giving a speech.
Vice President JD Vance visited with the Kirk family in Utah and made plans for Charlie Kirk’s casket to be taken to Arizona on Air Force Two, where he will be buried. In a sad video, Usha Vance, Vance’s wife, was seen holding Erika’s hand as they walked down the steps of the plane. Both women wore black clothes and sunglasses.
People on social media have connected with the emotional moment. Someone posted a picture of Erika on X with the words “This is heartbreaking.” God, please give Erika Kirk and her two great kids strength. A lot of people said they were sorry, with comments like “How sad it is to see this” and “I can’t even imagine her pain.”

Before she got married, Erika Frantzve was Miss Arizona USA (2012) and played college basketball. She has a Juris Master’s degree from Liberty University, a political science and international relations degree from Arizona State University, and a doctorate in Christian leadership. She was already a successful real estate salesperson when she met Charlie Kirk in 2019. The two got married in May 2021.
Erika hasn’t said anything publicly about her husband’s death yet, but people have been sending her messages of sympathy and tributes. She is the mother of two young children.
