YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani Appears Before Guwahati Crime Branch Amid ‘India’s Got Latent’ Controversy

Guwahati (Assam) [India]: Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding ‘India’s Got Latent,’ popular YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch, where his statement was recorded, officials confirmed.

Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain stated that multiple individuals named in the FIR, including Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and Jaspreet Singh, have been served notices.

“One of the named, Ashish Chanchlani, came to the Crime Branch, and we have recorded his statement… we have allowed him to go as he cooperated with us… He has told us he will appear before us whenever it is required,” Jain told ANI.

He further mentioned that the other accused individuals had not yet responded to the notices.

“Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, Jaspreet Singh, and the other accused are named in the FIR. We have served them notices, but they have not complied yet. We are looking into the matter as per the legal procedure, and we will take action,” he added.

On February 26, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell recorded the statement of social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, also known as The Rebel Kid.

The controversy erupted earlier this month after an FIR was filed against Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others involved in ‘India’s Got Latent.’ The complaint alleged that the show promoted obscenity and featured sexually explicit discussions on a publicly accessible YouTube platform.

On Monday, both Chanchlani and Allahbadia voluntarily approached the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to record their statements regarding the case.

According to reports, the Maharashtra Cyber Police have summoned over 30 individuals for questioning as part of the investigation. However, comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina, who hosted ‘India’s Got Latent,’ has yet to have his statement recorded.

The controversy intensified after Ranveer Allahbadia made offensive remarks during an episode of the show.

During the broadcast, Allahbadia posed an inappropriate question to a contestant, asking, “Would you rather watch your parents… or join in once and stop it forever?” The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread criticism on social media.

Authorities continue to investigate the matter, with legal actions expected against those found guilty of violating content regulations.
