Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal was seen wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “Be your own Sugar Daddy” as he exited the Bandra Family Court following his finalized divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma.
The Mumbai Court granted the divorce after accepting their joint petition. Confirming the news, Chahal’s advocate Nitin Kumar Gupta said, “The court has granted the decree of divorce. The parties are no longer husband and wife.”
The couple had filed for divorce by mutual consent on February 5, but the court initially refused to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period. Chahal and Dhanashree had been living separately since June 2022, just 18 months after their marriage in December 2020.
Speculation about their separation started when the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram. They originally met during the pandemic when Chahal reached out to Dhanashree for dance lessons.
With the divorce finalized, Chahal is now set to focus on his cricketing commitments with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming IPL 2025 season. PBKS secured Chahal for ₹18 crore ahead of the tournament.
Chahal is the highest wicket-taker by an Indian in T20Is and boasts impressive IPL stats with 354 wickets in 305 matches. He remains the leading wicket-taker for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), having claimed 139 wickets in 113 matches before leaving the franchise in 2021.
Since joining Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2022, Chahal has played a key role in helping the team reach the playoffs twice in three seasons.
