Actor Chad Michael Murray talked about a health crisis that almost killed him when he was a teenager on the Great Company podcast. The star of the new movie Freakier Friday, who is getting a lot of accolades for his part, said that when he was 15, he had a twisted intestine that caused significant internal bleeding and left him on his “deathbed.”
Murray talked about the scary experience that put him in the hospital for two and a half months and had him lose half of his blood. “I was in and out of consciousness,” he said. “I remember seeing my dad, who was the weakest I’d ever seen him, and a priest at the foot of my bed.” He said that his family was getting ready for his funeral.
He says that a nurse named Sandy saved his life by giving him a life-saving blood transfusion. After the first crisis, he had to have a second surgery to “clean everything up” since his organs were starting to shut down because of the bleeding within.
Murray started out as a model and then became a teen heartthrob on the TV show One Tree Hill. He has had a great career in both movies and TV. Freakier Friday, his most recent movie, is a follow-up to the 2003 hit Freaky Friday. It has been getting good reviews since it came out on August 8. In the movie, he gets back again with original cast members like Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.
