Push for Digitisation and Accessibility

In a bid to modernise the Parliament’s functioning, the Lok Sabha Secretariat highlighted a series of new digital initiatives during an informal meeting. Key upgrades include:

  • Multimedia Conferencing Devices (MMDs): Installed at every MP’s seat in the Lok Sabha chamber, these allow members to digitally mark attendance, reducing procedural delays.
  • AI-Based Language Translation: Daily Parliamentary business and agenda papers are now available in 12 languages — Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu — using AI tools. These documents are published in real-time on the Digital Sansad portal (https://sansad.in), enhancing transparency and public access.

Rajya Sabha Session

The 268th Session of the Rajya Sabha will also begin on July 21, according to the official Parliamentary Bulletin. Summons have been issued to members exclusively via the Members’ Portal, marking a further step toward digital governance.

The upcoming Monsoon Session is expected to be a significant one, combining legislative focus with continued efforts toward technological integration and inclusive governance.
