Centre Convenes All-Party Meeting Amid Heightened Tensions With Pakistan

New Delhi [India]: In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), the government on Thursday held an all-party meeting to brief political leaders on national security developments and ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

The meeting was held at the Parliament Annexe, with top leaders in attendance including Union Minister JP Nadda, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stressed national unity, quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi:

“PM Modi desires that in such a situation, we shouldn’t be divided. Every Indian must be united.”

Opposition Support:

Senior opposition leaders echoed sentiments of unity and praised the Armed Forces for the precision of the operation.
TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay stated:

“We salute the Armed Forces. 140 crore Indians are proud today. Operation Sindoor was a perfect operation. We must raise the slogan of the fight against terrorism globally.”

The all-party meeting follows Pakistan Army’s unprovoked small-arms and artillery fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor on the night of May 7-8, to which the Indian Army responded proportionately.

This marks the second such high-level meeting since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 civilians and triggered India’s multi-force precision operation targeting nine terror camps, including four in mainland Pakistan.
