Centre Confirms Red Fort Explosion As “Terror Incident” Amid New Jaish-e-Mohammed Links

Days after a deadly car explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi killed at least 10 people and injured over 20, the Central government officially confirmed it is probing the incident as a “terror incident.” The ongoing investigation has uncovered several key revelations, including a direct link to the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

Centre Confirms “Terror Incident” Status

On Wednesday, the Central government confirmed the investigation’s focus on terrorism, reinforcing the seriousness of the attack.

“The country has witnessed a heinous terror incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces, through a car explosion near the Red Fort on the evening of 10 November 2025…the Cabinet reiterates India’s unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” read a government statement released after Prime Minister Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security.

An FIR regarding the blast had already been filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), terrorism, and explosives acts.

Key Revelations Emerge in the Probe

Clear ‘Jaish Angle’ via Telegram Chats

Police officials have established a “clear Jaish angle” to the conspiracy through digital evidence recovered from the arrested suspects.

  • Following the bust of the terror module in Faridabad, police arrested Dr. Muzammil Ganai.
  • An initial analysis of the arrested persons’ digital devices showed they were in touch with their Jaish terror handlers in Pakistan through the Telegram platform.
  • The network, consisting of highly-qualified and highly-radicalized individuals, is believed to have been taking instructions from across the border and affiliated with the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Planned Attack or Panicked Explosion?

Investigators are exploring whether the blast was a meticulously planned attack, a panic-induced detonation, or an accident caused by an unstable device. The prevailing theory among police officials suggests the blast was triggered by panic after cops began closing in on the Faridabad terror module.

The suspected driver of the exploded Hyundai i20, Dr. Umar un-Nabi, has been linked to the two doctors arrested in the Faridabad bust, which involved the seizure of a massive cache of ammonium nitrate.

Turkey Visit Confirmed

Authorities have confirmed a significant international link in the case, revealing that Dr. Umar un-Nabi and his alleged associate, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie, visited Turkey in 2022. While specific details of the trip are pending, investigators suspect the purpose of the visit was to meet with their handlers in the country.

Dr. Shaheen Shahid’s Ex-Husband Speaks

In a personal detail related to the terror network, the ex-husband of arrested doctor Shaheen Shahid spoke out, expressing shock over her radical turn. Dr. Zafar Hayat, an ophthalmologist in Kanpur, confirmed they divorced in 2015 and that she had insisted on moving to Australia or a European country, but he wanted to remain in India. He stated, “One day, she suddenly left us. We divorced in 2015, and she never returned. There was never any conflict between us.”
