New Delhi [India]: The Ministry of Law and Justice, through an official notification, on Tuesday appointed judicial officers Shashi Bhushan Prasad Singh and Ashok Kumar Pandey as Judges of the Patna High Court.
In this regard, the issued notification stated that “in exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint Shashi Bhushan Prasad Singh and Ashok Kumar Pandey as Judges in the Patna High Court.”
This formal announcement highlights the constitutional process followed for such appointments, ensuring that judicial integrity and independence are maintained.
On September 24, 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium, consisting of Chief Justice Dr. DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, and Justice BR Gavai, recommended the appointment of Shashi Bhushan Prasad Singh and Ashok Kumar Pandey, both judicial officers, as Judges of the High Court of Judicature at Patna.
The Collegium also stated that their inter se seniority should be fixed according to existing practices. This recommendation reflects the Collegium’s commitment to ensuring qualified individuals are appointed to maintain the integrity and efficiency of the judiciary.
