Central Florida Submerged: Flash Flood Emergency Declared As Up To 18 Inches Of Rain Hits Lake County

Central Florida was hit by terrible rain on Sunday night that caused huge flooding in eastern Lake County. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Flash Flood Warning for the area.

The NWS put the cities of Eustis and Mount Dora, which were impacted the worst, under a Flash Flood Emergency, and Boca Raton was named a high-danger region.

Heavy rain fell on eastern Lake County, bringing an incredible 15 to 18 inches of water. The NWS said that two to three more inches of rain were still predicted, which made things worse.

The bad weather had immediate and serious effects:

Boca Raton: Videos that went viral on social media showed how bad the flooding was, with cars and other vehicles being swamped, even cars that were stuck in underground locations.

Eustis (Pine Meadows Area): Another video from the Pine Meadows neighborhood of Eustis showed widespread flooding that poured water into several homes, inflicting a lot of damage and putting residents at risk.

The heavy rains put a lot of stress on local infrastructure, making things quite risky for people in Lake County.
