The body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was found in the trunk of a car on September 8, belonging to the up-and-coming musician D4vd (actual name David Anthony Burke). When Rivas was 13 years old, she went missing in April 2024. She lived in Lake Elsinore, California. Her family had made several public requests for help finding her on social media, but these posts were taken down later.
A source close to Rivas’s mother told The U.S. Sun that the family knew about Rivas’s relationship with David Burke. The source said they were confused and angry about how the police handled the matter at first. They said that Rivas had temporarily returned home but then fled again without the police doing anything. The insider also said that someone had called the family and told them to cease looking for the person and take down their social media posts.
An investigation and public fallout
The Los Angeles Police Department has not yet designated a suspect or person of interest in the investigation. The investigation is now called a “death investigation,” and the cause of death is still being looked into by forensic experts. The body was located in a Tesla that had been left on a street in the Hollywood Hills and then hauled. It was in an advanced condition of decomposition. When workers at the tow yard smelled something bad emanating from the car, they called the police.
D4vd’s career has already taken a hit because of the finding and ongoing inquiry. His planned shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well as his planned visit to the Grammy Museum, have all been cancelled or taken off of venue websites.
There has also been talk about the case on social media, where a D4vd music video showing a body in the trunk of a car has come back to light. Online commenters have called the situation “very eerie.” The case is still going on, and authorities are seeking to find out what killed Rivas and how she was connected to the artist.
